Mitsubishi International Corporation's Japanese Parent Enters Shipping-Container Security Business through Transaction with GE Security Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), Mitsubishi International Corporation's parent, announced that it has agreed to invest in GE CommerceGuard AB, an affiliate of GE Security based in Sweden. MC will also become the exclusive distributor in Japan for GE Security's CommerceGuard devices and the exclusive operator of the CommerceGuard system in Japan. MC and GE Security are discussing expansion of their relationship into other regions in Asia. The CommerceGuard system uses devices attached on the inside of the container doors at the point of origin, which are "armed" via encrypted transmission after door closing. The devices are equipped with sensors that detect the unauthorized opening of container doors, and radio technology that transmits alarms and other information, including the container's identification number and mechanical seal number, to hand-held and fixed readers. GE Security and MC will jointly fund the infrastructure needed to operate the CommerceGuard system globally, including readers at port and terminal locations. Mitsubishi International Corporation provided support for, and will continue to participate in, the CommerceGuard project, which is keyed to the Green Lane Initiative of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). |

Mitsubishi International Corporation Affiliate Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. Awarded Certification by Forest Stewardship Council The SmartWood program of the Rainforest Alliance, an accredited certifier of the Forest Stewardship Council, has certified that the forest management practices of Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc., a company in northeastern Alberta, are environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable. Alberta-Pacific's 13.6 million acre-forest thus becomes the largest Forest Stewardship Council-certified forest in the world, and the first in Alberta and within the boreal forest of western Canada. Mitsubishi International Corporation Parent Participates in the 2005 Carbon Disclosure Project The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a special project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisers that provides a secretariat for the world's largest institutional investor collaboration on the business implications of climate change, has released its 2005 report. As one of the world's 500 largest companies according to market capitalization, Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) of Japan, Mitsubishi International Corporation's parent, was asked to provide information for the CDP report, which details increasing awareness of the risks and opportunities of climate change. A global review of MC's business activities from the perspective of sustainable development is contained in the company's Sustainability Report 2005. MC joint venture Natsource Japan, for example, deals in greenhouse gas emissions credits and energy-related products, such as electricity, the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) and weather derivatives, and provides environmental consulting. The Sustainability Report also details MC's corporate standards of conduct, its environmental charter and the framework it has developed for corporate governance and compliance. |

Mitsubishi International Corporation Affiliate Red Diamond Capital Completes Acquisition of Two Branded Food Companies Red Diamond Capital (RDC), a private equity fund affiliated with Mitsubishi International Corporation, announced on April 8, 2005 that it has formed a holding company, Milton's Fine Foods, Inc., and acquired the assets of Milton's Baking Company and MBR Foods, LLC., two affiliated branded food companies. Milton's Baking and MBR Foods are located in Del Mar, California and are leading formulators and marketers of branded food products sold under the Milton's label. Milton's Baking's line of premium sliced-bread products, including its flagship product, Milton's Healthy Multi-Grain Bread, are sold through retail, club and specialty stores throughout the U.S. Participating alongside RDC in forming Milton's Fine Foods, Inc. were the existing management of Milton's Baking Company and MBR Foods, as well as food industry veteran Ron Danenberg. Mitsubishi International Corporation and JAMCO Corporation Annouces the Awarding of Contracts by the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group Mitsubishi International Corporation (MIC) has collaborated with JAMCO Corporation, Aircraft Interiors Company, the world leader in designing and manufacturing aircraft interior monuments, on a joint sales effort to the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group. Together they have announced that JAMCO Corporation has been awarded two key contracts by Boeing for its new 787 DreamLiner. The first contract is for passenger lavatory modules. The second is for flight deck commodities. In a relationship which goes back more than 30 years, this is not the first time MIC and JAMCO have partnered successfully to enhance the interiors and components of commercial aircraft. |

Mitsubishi International Corporation and VISCAS Corporation, a joint venture of Fujikura Ltd. and The Furukawa Electric Company, Ltd., to Supply Electric and Gas Utility NSTAR with Pipe-type Cable Mitsubishi International Corporation (MIC) and VISCAS jointly announced that they have signed a contract with NSTAR, Massachusetts' largest investor-owned electric and gas utility company, to supply approximately 500,000 feet of 345 kV high-pressure, fluid-filled (HPFF) high-voltage power cable to the utility. These new high-voltage cables will eventually span 18 miles from a switchyard in Stoughton near the Stoughton-Canton line, to the K Street substation in Boston. According to NSTAR, this project, as one of the largest cable contracts awarded in U.S. transmission history, will, once completed, add more than 800 megawatts of electricity to the Boston Metropolitan region, and will help ensure future electric service reliability for all of New England. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by June 2006. MIC played a key role in negotiating the contract with NSTAR, and is a joint contracting party along with VISCAS. |

Affiliate Sound Energy Solutions and ConocoPhillips Company Jointly Develop Liquified Natural Gas Terminal in Port of Long Beach in California Mitsubishi International Corporation affiliate Sound Energy Solutions (SES), wholly owned by parent Mitsubishi Corporation, and ConocoPhillips Company, the third largest integrated energy company in the U.S., have entered into a Joint Development Agreement for a liquified natural gas (LNG)import terminal in the Port of Long Beach, California. The throughput of the proposed terminal will be five million tons of LNG per year, some of which will be used for clean-burning vehicle fuel for transportation markets in California. Mitsubishi International Corporation has worked closely with SES since its establishment in 2002, and expects to continue to support the company as it completes initial preparations for developing the new terminal. |

Life-science products ingredients handled by Chemicals Affiliate Transferred to Food Ingredients Affiliate The life-science products ingredients handled by Mitsubishi International Corporation (MIC) affiliate MIC Specialty Chemicals was transferred to another of MIC's affiliates, Mitsubishi International Food Ingredients, Inc. (MIF), effective May 1. While MIC Specialty Chemicals was established in 2002 to source both fine and specialty chemicals for customers in the Americas, MIF was created in September of last year, when parent Mitsubishi Corporation purchased the ingestibles business of Ashland Inc., a Fortune 500 transportation, construction, chemical and petroleum company. The purchase of this piece of Ashlandfs business added resources to Mitsubishi's food ingredients business, already nearly at $500 million in sales worldwide in 2004. Terminal Use Agreement with Freeport LNG Development, L.P. Paves Way for Mitsubishi Corporation to Market LNG in U.S. Mitsubishi International Corporation (MIC) partnered closely with parent Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) in negotiating a 17-year agreement with Freeport LNG Development L.P. to receive, store and deliver approximately 150 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) of liquified natural gas (LNG) at Freeport's terminal in Quintana, Texas. Starting in January 2009, MC plans to sell regasified LNG to customers in the U.S., particularly in Texas, through MC Global Gas Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of MC established in late 2004. Mr. Motoatsu Sakurai, President & CEO of Mitsubishi International Corporation, participated, together with Professor Gerald Curtis of Columbia University; Tadao Uchida, former senior correspondent for TV Asahi; and Masatsugu Nagato, Managing Executive Officer and Head of the Americas for Mizuho Corporate Bank, in a panel discussion at the Chamber, of which he is also President. Panelists considered global prospects during the second Bush administration, as well as more specific predictions concerning the U.S.-Japan relationship.
