China's growing international importance is symbolized by its 2001 entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO). As China's economy further develops, abiding by WTO membership requirements will bring domestic changes certain to significantly impact its trading partners. We are uniquely positioned to assist our partners to effectively navigate this dynamic business environment.

Integrated Solutions

Fulfilling customer demand in China remains a significant challenge. Traditionally, distribution inland is fragmented among many small local and regional trucking companies, and typically distribution is not integrated across transportation modes, from truck to rail to air. Recognizing these challenges, Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) has created China's largest foreign-owned, integrated distribution network. Starting with its first joint venture company in Shanghai in 1996, Mitsubishi has added numerous trucking routes, delivery and warehousing companies, and international freight forwarding services to enhance the scope and the capabilities of this network.

Today, MC transports products as varied as home appliances, clothing, and food. Its network includes state-of-the-art logistics facilities for efficient handling and storage of goods. MC owns two main warehouses in Shanghai and Beijing, as well as 35 additional distribution facilities across China, where nearly 600 trucks are distributing products daily.

Where is my shipment?

Among the problems facing those moving goods within China are the high costs and delays inherent in trying to reach customers inland. In order to help answer the simple questions "Where is my shipment and when will it arrive?" Mitsubishi will introduce an operation management system that uses a satellite-based Global Positioning System (GPS) to track truck locations throughout China's vast network of roads.
